What's After Dusa?

Dusa was released in 2004, after 25 years of screening, small plantings, semi-commercial testing and large scale commercial testing. WTS has learnt much in the last 30 years and with our superior genetic material we are able to breed commercial rootstocks much quicker. As yet there is no replacement for Dusa available, but we have a number of very promising rootstocks under close scrutiny. We strictly follow Dr Merensky's mantra of "research then experimentation then demonstration then commercialization". You can thus be assured that once we release a rootstock it has been rigorously tested under different conditions, over a number of years. Planting an avocado orchard is a long term investment and you should therefore consider your choice of rootstock carefully. It is our aim to take the "guess work" out of your decision.

In the meantime, if you want to plant avocados, place an order with our nursery for trees on Dusa as soon as possible - there is a waiting list and it's only getting longer. Herman Erasmus, our nursery manager will be glad to assist you. Register on Westfalia Info to gain full access to our forums and updates.
